With Vinokourov’s “A” sample testing positive for blood doping today, I should point out that Merckx was plagued with doping allegations in 1969, having withdrawn from the Giro d’Italia earlier in the year after strong accusations of drug use.

Nice Post, I have followed Road Cycling for years and have been whaching the Tour De France every year since the late 1970s
I think that Merckx was the greatest all round cyclist ever and in an era when doping was almost mandatory he was quite clearly the best
